What It Does Not Do

It does not prevent scratches. Ceramic coating is a chemical barrier, not a physical one. Rock chips, key scratches, and swirl marks from improper washing will still damage your paint underneath. For physical impact protection, paint protection film (PPF) is the correct product.
It is not self-cleaning. Your car will still accumulate dirt. The coating reduces how aggressively contaminants bond to the surface, but it does not eliminate the need for regular washing.
It does not last forever. Professional-grade ceramic coatings last two to five years depending on product quality, application technique, and post-application maintenance. Consumer-grade products from auto parts retailers typically last three to twelve months.
